Profile
Franziska Callaghan MA HistArt/Arch MScArchCons DipID IHBC
My approach to project work is always highly collaborative and I bring a broad range of experience and expertise to a project team if required.
I am a heritage professional with expertise in listed and historic buildings, relevant planning legislation, building conservation and materials, architectural history and its interpretation. I have extensive experience of working in the private sector as well as in local government as Conservation & Design Officer or Historic Buildings Officer, across several authorities in Norfolk, Lincolnshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire, at city, district and county level. I have worked with various Preservation Trusts including Great Yarmouth Preservation Trust as Lead Project Officer for the Hopton Ruined Church Project. As an architectural and fine art conservator, I have worked on many interesting and beautiful buildings and artefacts, both in the UK and Germany. More recently I have worked at executive level for the Diocese of Norwich, managing and facilitating change in the many medieval churches in Norfolk as well as their own Diocesan Churches Trust.
I have a strong interest in finding contemporary design solutions in the historic context; I have also worked in architectural and interior design.
I hold an MA in Architectural and Art History from the University of Heidelberg, an MSc in Architectural Building Materials Conservation from the University of Bournemouth and a Diploma in Interior Design. I am a full member of the IHBC (Institute of Historic Building Conservation).
